Maasai Warrior Club
A Maasai warriors 'rungu', throwing club / baton / game instrument / "war" club. I acquired three vintage clubs while on safari, traveling in and about the gorgeous and massive area of east Kenya and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater Reserve in Tanzania, following the "big five" migration. I purchased them directly from the handsomely adorned Maasai tribesmen in 2006. These multi-purpose club / staff / baton instruments are frequently used in play throwing games, to control herding, hunting and warfare. The 'rungu' are an important emblem of warrior status amoungst the "morans" male and frequently carved from Olive wood. From Kenya, east Africa, vintage, measure 18" long.
