MING PORCELAIN TEA POT

Description Underglaze cobalt blue painted white porcelain teapot with cover features a traditional flower and scrolling ivy design. This south China Sea marine (sunken ship) recovered exportware piece still has shell encrustation and dried mud remnants adhering to the body (which can be easily removed and cleaned). Extensive trade routes were established between South China seaports (know as the Silk Road) from the Song dynasty (960 - 1279 AD) to many Southeast Asian ports, including the Philippines, where this tea pot was recovered. Dates from the Ming dynasty, China, 17th century and measures, 8" long x 4.5" wide x 4.5" tall.
