Description
Red lacquer over black lacquer over woven bamboo footed 'Khwet' food bowl, Burma. Bowls like this were used in temples as well as households across Burma, usually to serve rice. This one dates from the early - mid 20th century, measures 4.5" high x 13" diameter and sets on six small feet. Body is handwoven bamboo layered with many black coast and top coat finished in red laquers. Some minor lacquer restorative lacquer coats are evident.
